A little about me

I’m a happily married woman residing in south central Texas who stays (mostly) sane by digging in the dirt.  My husband and I have two kids; the oldest is grown at 24 and has been out on his own for a while, and the youngest is 15, keeping us on our toes with her busy schedule.  Gardening is a hobby as well as a passion of mine, along with cooking and photography.  The main foundation of my gardens includes roses, herbs and veggies, but there is little I won’t try to grow, with ‘try’ being the key word.

As far as my other hobbies, if you go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/petalsofyesterday you’ll find a sampling of my public Flickr photos, while other topics can be found in the drop-down Categories menu to the right.  If you’re looking for a specific recipe, the tab labeled as such at the very top of the page contains links to recipes I’ve posted in alphabetical order.

Join me as I indulge in a variety of gardening escapades as well as culinary adventures, and take a peek into my blessedly ordinary life.  You won’t find anything overly dramatic or shocking here–just consider it a virtual way to grab a cup of coffee, sit down and have a chat with a friend in the garden.

  1. Welcome to the wonderful world of wordpress.com! I saw you subscribed to my blog. Thank you! I will drop by yours from time to time to read about gardening (and recipes)–although gardening in Texas is probably a bit different from here in Oregon. Good luck with the new blog!

    • Hi Susan, and thanks for the welcome! I saw your blog featured on Freshly Pressed and was drawn in by the great photos. Although we may reside in two different climates, it’s always nice to find someone who shares a love of the outdoors and gardening. I look forward to saying ‘hi’ every now and then in our blogs.

  2. Hi there Lisa! Nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by during my Freshly Pressed stardom .. it was quite exciting! Very happy to see another gardener! I am really getting anxious to start gardening, but we still have several more months before we can officially garden outdoors here. I look forward to your fun in the garden and hope to share my stories SOON!
    Debbie 🙂

    • Hi Debbie! I love surfing through Freshly Pressed and finding new people to connect with, especially fellow gardeners. Our weather has gone from arctic cold front to highs/lows in the 70’s/50’s range in the blink of an eye, so I’ve been running around trying to get my gardening chores lined up. Hope spring shows up in your neck of the woods sooner rather than later.

  3. I love your blog name! It’s simply adorable! I am looking forward to reading your blog. Gardening is something I like to do, but need all the help I can get! I’m glad I found your blog. I am hoping to learn from you! Best wishes, Koko:)
